The Nerf Ultra series of blasters was initially launched in 2019, providing blasters in various categories that utilize the new aerodynamic Ultra dart for firing.
The Nerf Ultra Series has had limited success thus far, but it does offer some worthwhile gun options for investment.
This article will provide an overview of Nerf Ultra and discuss the top five blasters in this range, according to my opinion.
Here are the top 5 Nerf Ultra Blasters.
About the Nerf Ultra Series
The Nerf Ultra series, known as ULTRA, was launched in the latter part of 2019, with the Ultra One being the initial blaster in the series.
The marketing strategy for the new Ultra series was to provide blasters that offer superior performance and advanced features. Blasters in the Ultra series are equipped with Ultra darts, a specially designed dart type that enhances performance.
The blasters in the Ultra series are similar to blasters in previous lines, like the Elite and Mega series. The main distinction is the newly designed Ultra dart that distinguishes Ultra blasters from other Nerf blasters.
Ultra Dart
The Ultra dart is thicker than the Elite dart and thinner than the Mega dart. It is also shorter than both of those other dart types.
Does the Ultra dart have a significant impact?
The Ultra dart may not be the engineering masterpiece that was anticipated upon its release. While Ultra blasters do have a tendency to shoot farther than Elite blasters, the firing accuracy is not particularly impressive.
AccuStrike Ultra Dart
Nerf introduced The AccuStrike Ultra dart in 2021 as an improved version of the 2019 Ultra dart, specifically designed to enhance shooting accuracy.
Upon careful observation of the two darts, one can discern that the AccuStrike Ultra dart possesses a flat dart head and a distinct color scheme. In terms of size, they are identical.
Although the Accustrike Ultra dart has shown some improvement in accuracy, it is generally agreed that the Ultra series has not met expectations.
However, we should not overlook the Ultra series. It would be unfair to do so. Despite the overall disappointment of the Ultra series, it is not all negative. There are a few Ultra blasters that have value and are worth purchasing.

Top 5 Nerf Ultra Blasters
Here is a list of the top 5 Nerf Ultra guns that you may want to consider adding to your Nerf collection.
1. Nerf Ultra Select
The 2021 Nerf Ultra Select is a blaster that is fully automatic, flywheel-powered, and magazine-fed. It includes 10 Ultra darts and 10 AccuStrike Ultra darts. The AccuStrike Ultra darts are designed to be more accurate than the original Ultra darts.
The full-auto blaster has a small firing capacity of only ten darts per clip. This is a drawback compared to the Rival Nemesis and Rival Prometheus, which have larger magazines. However, the Select does come with two sets of magazines and darts. Both magazines are attached to the blaster simultaneously. It is easy to load the magazines and switch between them during use.
The firing velocity and distance with the Ultra Select is decent, but it is not exceptional, especially when compared to Rival blasters.

2. Nerf Ultra Five
I previously mentioned the Nerf Ultra One, and you may be curious as to why it is not included in this list. The reason is that the model was widely regarded as a disappointment and did not effectively introduce the new Ultra series.
The Nerf Ultra Five is a spring-powered pistol with an internal magazine that can hold up to four darts.
The Ultra Five is a Nerf gun with a cool design, smooth priming mechanism, and respectable performance, making it a blaster worth considering.

3. Nerf Ultra Speed
The Nerf Ultra Speed is a unique-looking Nerf blaster with surprisingly good ergonomics, although the rev trigger switch is quite small. It includes two 12-dart clips that are not compatible with other Ultra guns.
The Ultra blaster is named Speed due to its exceptionally fast firing speed. The advertised rate of seven darts per second is quite accurate.
The Ultra Speed is a fully-automatic flywheel-powered blaster that requires 6 C-batteries to operate. Its overall performance is decent, but its accuracy may not be as high as expected, which is common for most Ultra blasters.
4. Nerf Ultra Pharaoh
The Nerf Ultra Pharaoh is a highly regarded sniper-style blaster that has earned a place on my list of top Nerf sniper rifle blasters.
The Ultra Pharaoh is a magazine-fed, bolt-action, single-fire blaster that was released in 2020 and has the appearance and feel of a true sniper rifle, which is why it is a personal favorite.
The Pharaoh has good ergonomics and a smooth priming and firing mechanism. While it may not be the top-performing Nerf sniper rifle, it offers decent performance in terms of firing distance and velocity.
Please read my review of the Nerf Ultra Pharaoh.
5. Nerf Ultra Four
The final blaster on my list is the Nerf Ultra Four. It is a pistol-style blaster that can fire only one dart.
The Four is a basic blaster, but it can be a fun addition to your collection.
The Four blaster includes four Ultra darts, with one fitting into the front barrel and two being stored in the bottom storage component.
The blaster operates using a spring mechanism. To use it, you must pull the handle at the back to prime it and then fire the dart.
Final Thoughts
Here are my top 5 blasters in the Nerf Ultra series. This article aims to provide a perspective on this range of blasters, which has received some criticism.
Although the Ultra series has been generally disappointing, it is important to consider all blasters within this range. There are a few decent options worth purchasing, particularly the five I have mentioned.
