Review of the Nerf Rival Kronos XVIII-500

The Nerf Rival Kronos XVIII-500 is a pistol-style blaster that is compact, has a smooth priming mechanism, and has excellent performance.

It is named after the Greek God of Time and has a sweet design.

In this review of the Rival Kronos, I will discuss the top 3 features of this blaster and explain why this may be the pistol you have been waiting for from the Rival series.

The Nerf Rival Kronos blaster is available for purchase on Amazon.

What Is the Nerf Rival Kronos?

The Nerf Rival Kronos XVIII-500, a compact spring-action blaster, was released by Hasbro in 2018. It is a small pistol within the Rival series, which Nerf released in 2015.

The Kronos is designed to fire in single-fire mode and can hold up to 5 High-Impact Nerf rounds in its spring-loaded internal magazine.

The packaging includes the blaster and five rounds, with various colour options such as Red and Blue and special edition Deadpool and Phantom Corps Sets for those seeking a more exclusive version.

3 Reasons to Buy the Rival Kronos

Here is my review of the Nerf Kronos, a small and enjoyable toy.

1. Flip and Slide Reloading

The Kronos has a spring-loaded internal magazine that can hold up to 5 rounds. There are a few necessary steps to reload.

To access the blaster, open the orange door on top and slide back to the top section. This is also how you prime the blaster. Inside, there’s a hole to load the rounds. After loading, slide it forward to its original position, and you can start firing.

This sliding section has a clever dual functionality. Initially, it appears as a sleek pistol with minimal bulk.

However, when the section slides back, it reveals a surprisingly spacious hole for quickly loading rounds. This feature mainly benefits individuals with more giant fingers, like myself.

In addition, the flip access door provides an extra layer of security to prevent any potential issues with rounds falling out in case the door accidentally opens during play.

However, the satisfying click of the door when it closes indicates the solid design of the Kronos, making this scenario unlikely.

2. Smooth Slide to Prime

As previously stated, the top section must be returned for reloading and priming. This sliding action is smooth and not overly complicated.

Additionally, the blaster features two black fins on each side that provide a comfortable grip and effortless sliding with your fingers.

Specifically, slide-action blasters feature a more bulky sliding section, making it clear where to place your hand for sliding. However, this design can result in added weight, difficulty in holstering, and discomfort for individuals with smaller hands.

Further, it is essential to note that a priming indicator is located at the back of the blaster. Observing the tiny orange dot signifies that the blaster is primed and prepared for use.

3. Single Fire Is All You Need

During the test sessions, the Kronos demonstrated a single fire speed of 90 feet per second, which I could get relatively close to.

The speed of this pistol-style blaster is impressive, although it falls below the standard 100 feet per second for many larger Rival blasters.

The blaster has a single-fire mode, but the priming handle allows smooth sliding action, making it easy to prime and pump out rounds one at a time.

Additionally, a safety lock is located on the right-hand side, just above the trigger, to prevent accidental firing.

Final Thoughts: Nerf Rival Kronos

The Kronos is a compact and well-designed pistol blaster for the Rival range and is included in the list of best Nerfgun pistols despite its small size.

The sliding priming handle of this pistol is a well-designed feature, allowing for quick and efficient folding of opponents at a speed of 90 ft per second.

If you prefer holsters, having two of these pistols may be worth considering, as they are lightweight and easy to carry.
